How long does it take to build a team?

Well, the correct answer is, “It depends.”  If one asked how long it takes to form a team, the correct answer is, “Minutes.”  The difference is the concept of “build a team” vs. “form a team.”  When you begin to add employees to your work team, consider the following to get that team up and running:

  • What are the personalities and communication styles of this team?
  • How similar are the backgrounds and experience levels of the members of the team?
  • Will there be a team leader?
  • How important is it for this team to work well together?

At Blue Gill, we take teambuilding very seriously.  We recommend your team complete individual assessments to learn about each team member’s unique communication style.  After this information is shared by each team member, the team can begin to adapt their own communication to that of others, so the work can be completed.  Having this foundation, can move a team to becoming a high performing team.
